Description
SHRS Bioethics and Health Humanities Lecture Rebekah Apple, MA, DHSc Director of the Master of Medical Management Program Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy Carnegie Mellon University Abstract: It often seems counterintuitive when a patient opts not to follow clinical recommendations. Refusals can create questions in the minds of clinicians regarding the decision-making ability of patients as well as when treatment over objection is appropriate. This session will explore the ethical issues associated with expecting patients to say "yes," and morally supportable approaches to continued care when the answer is "no." Co-sponsored by the Center for Bioethics & Health Law and the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences
