The Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals is an internationally accepted primary reference on animal care and use, and its use is required in the United States by the Public Health Service Policy. Veterinary care is an essential part of an animal care and use Program. The primary focus of the veterinarian is to oversee the well-being and clinical care of animals used in research, testing, teaching and production. In this webinar ARP coordinators will discuss the guidance provided by the Guide involving: • Surgery & Surgical Facilities • Overview– Surgical Procedures • Aseptic Technique • Pain & Distress • Monitoring: Intraoperative & Postoperative • Basics – Anesthesia, Analgesia • Euthanasia This webinar is relevant for investigators, postdocs, graduate students, and staff members who maintain or are listed on active IACUC protocols.
